Churn Creek Provincial Park
is located approximately 60 kilometres southeast
of Williams Lake at the confluence of the Chilcotin
and Fraser rivers in the south central region
of British Columbia. Historically used for ranching,
it was set aside in 1994 as part of the Cariboo-Chilcotin
Land Use Plan. Its area was increased in 1998
by the acquisition of the Empire Valley Ranch
which is central to the park, bringing the total
area to 36 000 hectares. The park is presently
managed by the Ministry of Environment, Lands
and Parks whose priority it is to protect the
flora
and wildlife
species of one of the few remaining natural grassland
habitats in the province.
